Life after ceremony
I vividly remember my state of mind when this picture was taken.
Looking at the sunrise while staying in a friend’s yurt after coming back from one of my first Umbandaime weekend ceremonies (many years ago).
Where to start?
Despite the (almost) sleepless nights, I felt nourished and full of inspiration for my ‘life after ceremony’. The notebook I had been carrying with me these past few days was full of homework.
Looking back, a new spiritual path opened and I have been a student of Umbanda ever since. These ceremony weekends also accelerated the transformative phase I was in, slowly but steadily turning the central pillars of my life (love, home, career) upside down.
But, where to start? I remember feeling completely overwhelmed by the massive amount of plans and changes that I wanted to materialize.
Grey zone
The years that followed were by no means easy, because I spent a lot of time in an ambiguous grey zone, intuitively knowing what I wanted to leave behind, but not yet seeing clearly where to navigate.
My journey would have been less rocky with the professional integration support I am offering today. To fully reap the benefits from the work with this sacred Plant Teacher.
I see many of my clients struggling in this ‘grey zone’ too (sometimes for many months) before they finally knock on my door and, as someone who has also been there, I know how this feels.
Best practices
There are a lot of ‘best practices’ that I can share to navigate this complicated phase.
I always start with these 2:
Take small steps (create small building blocks).
Give yourself time (don’t rush, transformations need time and space).
And (bonus tip!) what many people don’t know is, when it comes to the process of integrating your psychedelic experience, you can pick up wherever you have left off:
It doesn’t matter how long ago your ceremony took place because the somatic (‘body focused’) techniques that I use in my integration sessions will enable you to go back to the most memorable moments, renewing your ceremonial momentum and ‘afterglow’, even if this is decades ago.
